Type of Experiment: Web based evaluation form
This paper presents the Performance Engineering Maturity Model (PEMM) which is designed to help companies create products with sufficient performance characteristics. It points out that performance engineering needs to be a part of the whole software process. PEMM evaluates both the use of PE in the software design and the process integration and is also useful for choosing a software system provider.
The study is a web based questionnaire that determines the maturity of companies PE based on their answers. The survey asked questions related to the companies use of PE as well as other basic business questions. All the evaluate companies were on PEMM level one which means they were properly or effectively using PE. The paper ends by saying that companies might be able to be judged by their PEMM level, but that their should probably be more empirical studies done.
